It appears that this pair of Gadwalls, a male on the left and a female on the right are sharing a close moment. Gadwalls are unusual in the duck world in that the male is not brightly colored. It is that time of year, and many birds will be seen pairing up. I took this photo yesterday while birding at the Fairview Wetlands in Salem. Didn't realize Fairview wetlands exsisted. What a great use of old commercial/suburban land & conveniently located for Salem visits! Enjoyed the trip journal.
