A Bird Thanksgiving

With all the advertising and talk swirling around the Thanksgiving Season about food, I got to thinking about what we had observed with the birds during our bird/dog walk at Staats Lake in Keizer yesterday morning. Below are a few photos of birds with their dining choices.

    And yesterday we observed a pied- billed grebe eating a crayfish (it took the claws off first), a Great blue heron with his big bass, and a red-shouldered hawk dining on a snake and then a big grasshopper.

    They seem to be eating well, certainly a nice diversity of edibles.
